Steve Sharkey
called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community
Center at 1:30 PM, with an attendance of fifty active members, which is a
quorum. Attendance sheet attached.
Pledge of Allegiance:

A

in remembrance of our recently deceased members PC Deb and Stu Brandow.
Presentations:
Ø
Citation
– Mayor John McCormac Awarded proclamations to Moustafa Salama and Rozana Makaj
the lifeguards that were integral in the saving of our member Lou Algaze’s life
on February 16th. Vito Cimilluca, Brian Molnar, and Ryan Vasquez
also attended. Lou Algaze thanked the lifeguards for saving his life.

The WTSBC was awarded a Citation
for “Most Novel” for their participation in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade by Joe
Sawyer from the American Irish Association. Harry Witt Thanked Joe Sawyer for
the citation and his committee for all their work they did preparing for the
parade.
Ø
Nolan Tournament Awards Presentation
– Pat Trombetta described how the Nolan tournament took shape and talked about
when the club played their playoff game at Jim Nolan’s house on his 100-year-old
table. Pat handed out plaques to the top three winners in each of our tiers from
the Nolan tournament. Wayne congratulated the winners of the tournament and the
members of the tournament committee and Joe Cafaro and Joe Onuska for all they
do for the club.

Pin Awards
– Nina Blackwell: -
Joe Keber handed out five 9-on the
break pins to members who have recently made a 9-on the break during season 11
9-ball league. Report Attached.
Officer Roll Call: Joseph

Secretary’s Report:
Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading
of the March minutes. A motion made by Andy Mudrak, seconded by Bill
Vaughn, was approved unanimously.
Treasurer's Report:

Cafaro reported there is $2,839.21 in the account. Report Attached
President's Report: Steve
welcomed the members and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for April.
We currently have ninety active members. Room attendance for April averaged
thirty on weekdays and fifteen on weekends. Two members resigned from the club
last month, Diane Walker for health reasons and John Neves for personal reasons.
Steve thanked the members that took the time to attend the funeral of passed
member PC Deb. The club was very dear to him, and it was reflected by the
members of his family. Bill Vaughn brought flowers to the funeral continuing the
tradition that PC had done for other club members over the years. Stu Brandow’s
wake will be held on April 16th at the Costello/Grainer Funeral Home
from 4:00pm till 8:00pm. Steve announced that Jerry Granato Jr. has stepped up
to sponsor a major tournament. The Jerry Granato Sr. Memorial Tournament will
replace the Zirpolo tournament this June.
Tournaments/Events:
Tournament Committee Update
– Wayne Collins: The new Jerry Granato
Sr. Memorial Tournament will be held from June 9th to the 25th.
This will replace the Zirpolo tournament this year.
Season 11 Nine Ball League
– March 25th to June 11th - Joe K. announced the current
standings of the teams at this point and reported that everything is going well.
There were five 9-on-the -breaks so far this season.
Triple Play
– May 21st –

reported that he has the sign-up
sheet is on the
table here today and it will be located on the club table after the meeting.
Ladies Day Tournament
– April 5th – was cancelled
due to lack of interest. Steve S.
thanked Judy Kazimir for her work on the tournament.
Members/Relative Tournament–
April 12th at 9:30am – Joe O.
said there are thirteen teams signed up. Please come early the sheets will be
made out in the morning with the teams that show up on time.
Doubles Tournament
– August 20th at 9:30am– Joe O.
Signup sheets will go out in July. This
is an in-house tournament “two tier-ones cannot be on the same team together.”
If you do not have a team, one will be provided for you.
After this tournament Joe Keber plans to
find out from the players if there is a demand for an in-house doubles league.
If there is a demand, there will be a league next year.
League matches.
Lou Algaze/Evelyn Mercado – Lou reported that there was a three-way tie for
first and after a playoff the Warriors ended up in second place. Next season we
will have two teams in the league. There will be an exhibition game between the
Contenders and Union on May 15th at home and they will be playing the
South Brunswick team tomorrow at South Brunswick.
Committee Updates:
Membership/Orientation
- Joe Keber stated that there are four applicants on the waiting list, two of
which we will interview later this month, and two next month. The club welcomed
three new members, Ernesto Casal, Sam Serrano
and Edward McSherry. Ed thanked the club for accepting him into the club
and said he participates in the tooling around town project. He invited the
members to get involved and help restore houses for people in need in the
township.
Fellowship
– John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or
spoken to and those that are in the hospital.

Maintenance/Supplies
– Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: No Report. Bob Cedrone told the
membership to be careful when reaching into the pockets. Some of the nails that
secure the pockets in place are coming loose and can cut your hand. Bob also
mentioned that there are new locks in the equipment cabinets, and you need to
close the lock to remove the key.
Water/Soda
- Angel Rodrigues thanked the unknown person who donated $40.00 toward the
soda/water fund.
Hospitality
– Christina Malangone/Ed Vasquez: Steve Thanked Christina for setting up the
snacks. Ed is retired till the elevator is back in order. The coffee for this
meeting was donated by the Community Center for the inconvenience of no working
elevator.
Audit

Club
Apparel
– Rob Jenkins, Johanna Calamusa, Pat Murphy: No Report. A catalog
is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.
Hats
J. Keber stated that we have one extra hat if anyone wants to buy one.

Open/Q&A
Bob
Cedrone asked when the CPR class will be available. Wayne Collins told him that
the next class will be in October. There are currently twenty-two members
certified.
Barbara Clark stated that she thinks the major tournaments are too long.
A
Motion to Adjourn
was made by Bob Kazimir and seconded by John
Borkowski at 2:46 p.m. and approved unanimously.
