April 10, 2024, General Meeting Minutes

 Steve Sharkey called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center gymnasium at 1:34 PM, with an attendance of fifty-seven active members which is a quorum. Attendance sheet attached.
Pledge of Allegiance: - Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.
A moment of silence in remembrance of all our deceased members including Andy Yani who passed last month.

Officer Roll Call: Joseph Onuska - All Officers are present.
American Irish Association Guest Speaker: Joe Sawyer presented the club with the first-place award for best senior marching unit in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Steve thanked the Committee members for all their work organizing the members.
Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes. A motion made and seconded passed unanimously.
Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported as of March 31, 2024, there is $9,334.23 in the account. Report Attached
Nolan Awards Presentation: James Noan took pictures with the winners of the Nolan tournament. James talked about his and his family’s history with billiards and congratulated the winners. List of winners attached.
Pin Awards: Nina Blackwell handed out the pin awards for the Nolan tournament and Ed Hodan Day. List of winners attached.
President's Report: Steve welcomed the members and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for April. We currently have ninety active members. Room attendance for March averaged 28-30 on weekdays and twelve on weekends. Events are on track for 2024 and the picnic will be here before you know it.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Harry Witt thanked everyone that attended the parade.
 
Committee Updates:
Membership/Orientation - Joe Keber reported that we have two members joining our club today, Don Roder and Peter Aleo. Joe also stated that there are three applicants on the waiting list.
Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.
Mayor: Mayor John McCormac talked to the membership about what is happening around Woodbridge. 16
Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: No Report.
Water/Soda - Angel Rodriguez No Report.
Tournaments/Fundraisers: 
9-Ball Joe Keber: Joe reported that the Predators are in first place after three weeks nine weeks to go season nine ends on 6/12.
Triple Play: The next Triple Play will be on May fifteenth.
League matches. Lou Algaze / Ron Blackwell the Season is over. The league will present their plaques at a picnic held at Pelzman Park. The team captains are paying for the plaques. Bring your own food for the picnic.
Member Relative: Joe O. Tournament is on Saturday April thirteenth.
Police Fire Tournament: Scheduled for May eleventh. We are waiting for more information from Mike Harris as to the number of players that will be participating.
Zirpolo Tournament Joe O.: The tournament scheduled from June tenth to the twenty-first. Signup sheets will be available May sixth.
Straight Ball John Kunie: John Kunie came to the meeting to discuss having a “Straight Pool Day.” John is looking at a Thursday afternoon in May for the event and has a list of thirty-two members that are interested in playing. John said that he along with other members that know the game are willing to teach any members that are interested in how to play straight pool. John will divide the players into three sections, tier-one players, tier-two players, and tier-three and four players combined.
Tournament Committee: Wayne said that the committee is working on coordinating how people will move between tiers at the end of the year.
Hospitality - Carol DiPietro/Evelyn Mercado: Steve thanked the committee for setting up the snacks, John Borkowski’s wife for the crumb cake, and Wayne for the chocolate cake.
Twentieth Anniversary Party Pat Trombetta: Pat reported that 136 guests signed up for the party. It is a BYO affair catered by A Touch Italy who will also supply servers. Two winners will split the 50/50, the club will not receive any of the 50/50 proceeds. There will be a free raffle with prizes and one lucky winner will receive free dues for next year. DJ Mell will provide music.
Public Relations Pat: No Report.
Audit – Ellen Wortman: No Report.
Bylaws – Wayne Collins: No Report.
CPR-AED – Wayne reported that he is attempting to set up another class
Ethics – Wayne Collins: No Report.
Captains – Ron Blackwell: No Report.
Website – Ron Blackwell: Still updating it. Seve said he will send out pictures to the members from Ed Hodan Day as soon as he can.
Club Apparel – Johanna Calamusa, Pat Murphy: No Report. A catalog is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.
