Meeting Minutes
PRESIDENT – Steve Sharkey,

Steve
Sharkey
called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community
Center at 1:36 PM, with an attendance of 44 active members which is a quorum.

Pledge of
Allegiance:
- Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag and asked for A moment of silence in
remembrance of all our deceased members.
Secretary’s
Report: Joe O.:
Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the
minutes. A motion made by Rob Jenkins, seconded by
John Borkowski and approved unanimously.
Pin
Awards – Nina Blackwell:
Nina
handed out awards Report attached.
Season 10 -- 9 Ball League Awards –
Joe K.
handed out awards for the season 10 9-ball awards.
Treasurer's Report:
- Joe
Cafaro reported there is $4,623.36 in the
account. Report Attached. Steve reported that the club received a
check from the community center for $3,500.00 in appreciation for our good work
for the town.
President's Report: Steve
welcomed the members and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for
February. We currently have 90 active members. Room attendance for January
averaged 30 on weekdays and 15 on weekends. Judy and Bob Kazimir will celebrate
their 65th wedding anniversary on February 13th. We
terminated Shantha
Athalage in
January for non-participation.
Have-A-Heart:
Wayne Collins – we
have raised $854.00 so far and you have until February 24th to
donate. Lou Algaze also asked for volunteers for the food bank.
St.
Patrick’s Day Parade:
Harry Witt – The parade will be on March 9th there is a signup sheet
here today and it will be on the club table upstairs. You can march from the
high school or from the Rio Diner or sit on the float. There will candy to throw
or eat, a motorcycle with monkey, and a car with Pat Trombetta.
Committee Updates:
Membership/Orientation
- Joe Keber stated that there are five applicants on the waiting list, two of
which we will interview in March. The club welcomed a new member, Irene Wojcik.
We have applications in the six senior centers and the WC lobby.
Fellowship
– John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or
spoken to and those that are in the hospital.

Maintenance/Supplies
– Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: Steve asked the members to clean up their water
and soda bottles when you are done with them and reminded the members not to sit
on the
tables.
Tournament Committee: Wayne Collins
reported that the committee had a meeting this morning
to discuss the movement of players that will occur after the Founding Fathers
tournament at the end of the year.
Water/Soda
- Angel Rodriguez No Report.
Tournaments/Fundraisers:
9-Ball Joe
Keber Season 11 9-ball will start on March 25th and the signup sheet
is on the club table. The captain’s
committee will meet on
March 21st to go over the rules and draft the teams for the upcoming
season.
Triple play:
Joe K. reported that the next triple play scheduled for May 21st and
the signup sheets will be available on April 11-15th.
League matches.
Lou Algaze:
the team currently tied for second place and if they win their next two games
they can be tied for first place. Our club is sponsoring a second team in the
Central Jersey Billiards League that starts in September. Evelyn
Marcado will be
captaining the contenders who will join the Warriors not only in the league, but
they will also have an exhibition game against the Warriors on February 27th
at 10:00am.
Nolan Tournament:
Joe O. reported the tournament will be from March 10th through the 26th.
The signup sheets are on the club table.
Member/Relative tournament:
Joe O. reported that the first tournament will be on April 12th and
the second will be on October 25th. The score sheets will not be
pre-filled, if you sign up and show-up by nine-fifteen on the day of the
tournament we will add your team to the score sheets. There was too much
confusion last year with teams that did not show up and it is difficult to
change the pre-filled sheets.
Ladies Day Tournament:
Judy Kazimir reported that the tournament is scheduled for April 16th
starting at 10:00am. The sign-up sheets will be available on March 10th.
Doubles tournament:
Joe O. reported that the annual Doubles tournament will be on August 29th
with signup sheets available on July 19th.
Doubles Leage:
Joe K. We are proposing the addition of a doubles League to start on June 24th
and run through September 2nd Signup sheets will be available on May
12th. Teams are encouraged to sign up together. Singles will be
paired before the games. There will be a handicap system used for scoring.
Hospitality
– Diane Walker/Christina Malangone/Ed Vasquez: Lou Algaze made the coffee, and
we purchased snacks from the cafeteria.
Audit –
Ellen Wortman:
No Report.
Bylaws –
Wayne Collins: No Report.
Ethics – Wayne
Collins: There is a need for the members to watch their language. There have
been reports of cursing by our members in our club and in the building. If the
WCC wants they can close the room, and we would have NO CLUB.
Captains –
Ron Blackwell: No Report.
Website – Ron
Blackwell: Ron will be taking a course on WORD PRESS, and we are looking to put
a new website in place.
Club
Apparel
– Rob Jenkins/Pat Murphy: All orders were filled. A catalog is upstairs if
anyone needs to order any clothing. Joe K. reported that new club hats have been
ordered and will be here for the April meeting.
New
Business – Steve:
The PA system is being investigated and the WCC is on its third vendor looking
into a remedy. We were told that it will be repaired shortly.
Floor Open/Q&A
There was a
question about what happened to the in-house 8-ball league. The league was
canceled when the second 8-ball team was added to the league. There was another
question about what happened to the Straight pool league. There were
disagreements during the trial games, and they would need to be addressed before
we could continue with the league.
Motion to Adjourn

at 2:43 p.m. and approved unanimously.
