 Steve Sharkey called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center at 1:37 PM, with an attendance of fifty-two active members which is a quorum. Attendance sheet attached.

Pledge of Allegiance: - Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.

A moment of silence in remembrance of our recently deceased member Jim Bob Mulvey

Officer Roll Call: Joseph Onuska - All Officers are present.

Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Steve Sharkey made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes. A motion made by Rob Jenkins, seconded by Andy Mudrak, and approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported there is $4,100.79 in the account. Report Attached

Holiday Party- Joe C. The Holiday party scheduled for January 15th. will take place from 1:00pm till 5:00pm at Dominic’s Italian Restaurant. The cost is $20.00 for members and $25.00 for guests. The party is a sit-down affair with a DJ, Desserts, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. If you bring a dessert, it will be appreciated. Give your check to Joe Cafaro, send your check to him at home or place it in the lockbox in our room.

President's Report: Steve welcomed the members and announced the Birthday list for November. Steve thanked Bob Wardlow for donating the new table four to the club. Steve also thanked the team that Bob assembled to move and reassemble the table and remove the old table. There is a plaque commemorating bob’s donation attached to the table. There is no increase in the annual dues that remain $60.00. Please see Joe Cafaro before the end of the year. The three mandatory meetings a year rule is in effect. We currently have ninety-one active members. Room attendance for October averaged 33-34 on weekdays and 15-16 on weekends. Jim Bob Mulvey’s memorial will be on November 24, from 12:00pm till 1:30pm at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green St., Woodbridge, NJ 07095, Please wear your red shirts.

CPR-AED - Wayne Collins reported that eleven members have recently taken the course and that brings the list of qualified members to twenty-two. The list is located underneath the CPR-AED machine in the corner of the room.

Elections - John DiNapoli, acknowledged the exceptional job done by the current E-Board. John stated that the Club's current Executive Board, Steve Sharkey, President, Joe Keber, 1st VP, Pat Trombetta, 2nd VP, Joe Cafaro, Treasurer and Joe Onuska, Secretary, had declared their candidacy for reelection in 2025. After providing adequate written notice to the Club's Membership there were no nominations or challenges received for any of the Executive Board Officer positions for 2025. 

          Joe Onuska stated that under article 8, section 1, of our by-laws: There being no oppositions for any executive office I cast one vote for the presented slate of nominees for executive board and thereby conclude the election.

Separately, Lou Algaze was unanimously reappointed by the Executive Board to serve as the Club's Sergeant-at-Arms for 2025. Lou accepted the position.

Steve S., on behalf of the entire E-Board and Lou Algaze thanked the body for their support, confidence, and trust in what we do.

 

Founding Fathers Awards Presentation: Joe Keber and Pat Trombetta handed out the plaques to the winners of the tournament.

Mike DiGiovanni Food Bank Fundraiser: Wayne Collins presented a check to Peter Barcelona for $2,500.00 and thanked Camilla DiGiovanni for her continuing support of the fundraiser. Peter thanked the club for its continuing support of the food bank on behalf of those we serve. There are 1400 families currently served by the food bank. Camilla DiGiovanni thanked the club for remembering Mike. Steve S. thanked Wayne for doing such a superb job with this and all the fundraisers that he runs.

Pin Awards – The club awarded pins to several members for league and 9-ball achievements. Report Attached

Food Bank – Lou Algaze reminded the membership of the upcoming event at the Shoprite in Woodbridge. They will be asking the shoppers entering the store to purchase items that they can donate when they leave, to the food bank. The date is November 23rd, from 9:00am till 5:00pm. The food bank appreciates any time that you can be there.

Tournaments and events

Season ten 9-Ball - Joe Keber reported the start of the league after six weeks.

Triple Play – Joe K. reported that he will be taking the signup sheets today and setting up the matches for next Wednesday, the games will start at 9:30am on November 20th.

Eight Ball league – the signup sheet will be on the club table on January second. The league will replace the current spring nine ball league and start on March twenty fifth and end on June tenth.

Ed Hodan Day – Ed will come to the club on November 23rd to play our members. The games will start at 10:30 till around noon. Steve S. has the names of the people that signed up and will have a roster posted.

League matches. Lou Algaze / Ron Blackwell – Lou Algaze reported that the club has won two of its four matches.

Halloween Billiards Bash – Steve thanked the members that showed up and  everyone had a fun time. Steve gave special thanks to Vanesa Van Keuren for running the affair and providing gift prizes, Pete Aleo for supplying the doughnuts, and Lou Algaze for making the coffee.

Veterans Day Tournament – Joe O. reported that there were twelve veterans that played in the 8-ball tournament and that Navy won ten to six. Joe also thanked the members that came and all members that are veterans for their service.

Toy Drive – Pat: We kicked off the Annual Toy Drive Extravaganza on November 8 and will collect toys until December 5. So far thanks to the police we have between 800 and 1000 toys so far. Last year the donations went to eighty-five families, and we expect more families this year. The American Irish Association and its three hundred members joined two years ago, and the fire and EMS are always with us. You can drop off your donations in the box in the lobby, in our room, or in the lock box for cast or gift cards just leave a note telling us what it is for. Pat read a list of members that help with the toy drive.

Committee Updates:

Membership/Orientation - Joe Keber stated that there is one applicant on the waiting list, a meeting will be set up for an interview soon. The applicant saw our advertisement in the Colonia Corner.

Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.

Audit    Ellen Wortman: No Report.

Bylaws – Wayne Collins: No Report.

Ethics   Wayne Collins: No Report.

Captains – Ron Blackwell: No Report.

Hospitality – Diane Walker and Christina Malangone: Steve thanked the committee along with John Borkowski’s wife for making the crumb cake.

Website – Ron Blackwell: No Report.

Club Apparel – Johanna Calamusa, Pat Murphy, Rob Jenkins: The committee purchased four shirts to use for sizing and club pictures. A catalog is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.

Water/Soda - Angel Rodriguez No Report.

Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: Steve J. thanked everybody that helped move the new pool table. The room will close from 11:00am on Friday 11/15 while tables three and five will have new cloth put on. Lou Algaze thanked the membership for doing the right thing.

          Floor Open/Q&A - Evelyn Mercado and Rob Jenkins asked if there will be a second eight ball travel team added to the eight-ball league that tier two, three, and four can play on. Steve replied that we will consider it next year when we form new teams. A team requires ten people, a minimum of eight must play or you forfeit, each full team roster consists of twelve members plus two additional people as alternates.

John Borkowski asked if we could place additional bridge holders on other tables instead of having them in the queue rack. We previously decided not to add extra hooks on the tables for bridges.

Steve Lemaszewski suggested that we have an ugly sweater contest at the Holiday party.

Motion to Adjourn made by Manny Valles and seconded by Pat Murphy at 2:46 p.m. approved unanimously.
