January 10, 2024, Meeting Minutes

(PRESIDENT – Steve Sharkey excused), 1st VICE PRESIDENT – Joseph Keber,

2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Pat Trombetta, TREASURER – Joseph Cafaro,

SECRETARY – Joseph Onuska

 

 Joseph Keber called the general meeting of the WTSBC to order at the Woodbridge Community Center at 1:30 PM, with an attendance of forty-five  active members which is a quorum. Attendance sheet attached.

Pledge of Allegiance:Lou Algaze Led the pledge to the flag.

A moment of silence in remembrance of all our deceased members.

 

9-Ball Awards Presentation for season 8: Joe Keber presented trophies to the racketeers for their first-place finish in the season 8 nine-ball league. Judy Kazimir received the MVP award.

Treasurer's Report: - Joe Cafaro reported there is $11,418.05 in the account. Report Attached.

Holiday Party: Joe Cafaro reported that the Holiday Party is on 1/11/2024 and there are ninety-three people signed up, so come and have a good time.

Dues: Joe C. reported that the dues are ninety-eight percent in.

Officer Roll CallJoseph Onuska - Steve Sharkey excused all other officers are present.

Secretary’s Report: Joe O.: Joseph Keber made a request for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes. A motion made by Wayne Collins seconded by John Borkowski and approved unanimously.

President's ReportJoe K. welcomed the members and announced the Birthday and Anniversary lists for January. We currently have ninety-two active members and thirteen inactive Honorary members. Room attendance for December averaged thirty on weekdays and fourteen on weekends.

Club Accomplishments: Joe K. read a list of the accomplishments the club achieved during 2023 and thanked the membership for their support during the year. Report Attached.

E-Board report Joe K. reported that the E-Board has voted to reinstate the mandatory three-month rule in regard the attendance at our general meetings. Article 3 section 7 of our by-laws. And went over the code of conduct for the club.

 

Comittee Updates:

Membership/OrientationJoe Keber stated that there are four applicants on the waiting list, one of which we will interview later this month. Joe K. announced that he has placed six applications in the room if anyone needs them for a potential member.

Fellowship – John Borkowski read a list of members that the committee has sent cards to or spoken to and those that are in the hospital. Report Attached.

Maintenance/Supplies – Steve Jimenez & Lou Algaze: Lou reported that the room is clean, and he has been coming up on the weekends to clean in Steve Jimenez’s absence. Lou also stated that due to the problem we are having keeping the white board clean someone suggested that we purchase a digital board. Pat T. reported that we will be replacing the pockets on table four when Steve Jimenez returns.

Toy Extravaganza: Pat reported that we had another banner year with the fund donating to ninety-seven families with two hundred and four children receiving gifts. Pat named the people in the club that volunteered at the fundraiser and all the community organizations and businesses that contributed to making it a remarkable success.

Water/SodaAngel Rodriguez: No Report.

Tournaments/FundraisersJoe O. reported that there will be a return to five tiers this year and we are working on other changes. Joe O also stated that there is a list of all the activities that the club will be involved in during the entire year on the bulletin board in the room along with the club calendar listed on the website.

9-Ball Joe Keber reported that the new and improved sign-up sheet will be available on January 31st. The league will start on March 26th and run weekly until June 12th. Last year we had thirty participants, and we would like to see more people sign up for this season.

Triple Play: Joe K. reported that the sign-up will end on January 18th and the games will be at 9:30am on January 24th. Joe K. mentioned that the sheets have been out for a while and asked the members to please look to see if you signed up to play, if you cannot attend, please remove your name so we do not have confusion on the day of the event.

HospitalityCarol DiPietro/Evelyn Mercado: Carol thanked Joe C. for the coffee and cups.

 Audit Ellen Wortman: Ellen reported on the 2023 audit stating that the account is in Excellent order and thanked Joe C. for doing a wonderful job. Report Attached.

Bylaws Wayne Collins:         No Report.

Ethics Wayne Collins:          No Report.

CaptainsRon Blackwell:      No Report.

WebsiteRon Blackwell:       No Report.

Club ApparelEllen Wortman reported that Pat Murphy has joined the committee and Johanna Calamusa will be taking the shirt orders. Ellen also reported that she is resigning from the committee. A catalog is upstairs if anyone needs to order any clothing.

 

Have-A-Heart: Wayne Collins reported on this year’s fundraiser and asked the members for their donations and hope they will again step up and help. Lou Algaze mentioned the names of the members that have donated their time to help the foodbank during the year.

CPR/AED classes. Wayne reported that there will be a class starting at 9:00am till 12:00pm on February seventh in room 215 of the community center.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Harry Witt reported that the parade will be on March 10th. We are looking for an increase in participation from the club. He will have more information at the February meeting. We will again be having members join the parade at the Rio diner.

 

20th. Anniversary party: Pat T. announced that the club will be holding its 20th anniversary party at the Acasia center on April 18th. from 1:00pm till 5:00pm. Pat also stated how proud he is of the members of the club and that the party will be free to all members and a guest, additional guests will be $25.00 per person. Joe C. reported that there will be a signup sheet in the room and the affair is a BYO event. Ron Blackwell stated that the “Touch of Italy” that will be catering the affair has the best food around.

 

New BusinessPat T. thanked Lou Algaze, Ellen Wortman and Carol DiPietro for putting up and decorating the Christmas tree in the room.

  

Motion to Adjourn made by Bob Kazimir and seconded by John Borkowski  at 2:20p.m. and approved unanimously.
