May 2019 Meeting Minutes (next meeting June 12, 2019)                                                                       

      A meeting of the Billiards Club was called to order at the Woodbridge Community Center on Wednesday, May 08, 2019, at 1:29PM, with an attendance of 80 active members (+ one inactive Honorary member) which constituted a quorum.

     Steve Sharkey opened the meeting and Lou Algaze led the salute to the flag and a moment of silence in memory of Mike DiGiovanni, Tony Falco and JoAnn Alach.  After the call to order, the Executive Board roll was called and all members were present.                  

           

SECRETARY REPORT (Nora Stewart) – April 10, 2019, meeting minutes had been posted on the website and in the Room and were accepted without additional comments and filed.

 

TREASURER REPORT (Joe Cafaro) – Treasurer’s monthly report was given with an ending balance of $5,379.53 as of April 30, 2019, and filed for audit. 

 

GUEST SPEAKERS –

 Vito Cimiluca, Woodbridge Recreation Director, updated the Club on the upcoming Celebration of the Woodbridge Township 350th Anniversary celebration which will be held on June 01, 2019, at Merrill Park and other WCC activities and maintenance.

 

PRESIDENT'S REPORT (Steve Sharkey)         

          **Our Annual Summer Picnic will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, from 1PM to 6PM at Pelzman Park in Avenel.  The menu will be the same as in the past with the same caterers.  The cost:  Member and their first guest is free; a second guest is $15.  The sign-up sheet is in the billiards room.

             **May Birthdays were acknowledged.

           **Special May Wedding Anniversaries of members were acknowledged:  Walter & Delores Malecki – 37 years on May 02;  Ted & Joy Martin – 55 years on May 06; Joe & Julie Cafaro – 47 years on May 06; Dominick & Josephine Fazio – 52 years on May 27; John & Joanne DiNapoli – 53 years on May 14; Enzo & Fausta Martino – 52 years on May 27

 

            **Monthly reminders – Raise your hand to speak at the meeting, no profanity in Billiards Room, sign in/out attendance required in the Billiards Room; Defib log checked daily in the Room; Stock refrigerator; Room locked at the end of the day.

           **Emergency Contacts Listings are in the Billiard Room – See Ted Martin for any updates or changes

           **911 Telephone, Evacuation plan, Emergency contacts, List of members certified in CPR & DeFib (log everyday), all displayed in the Billiard Room.

          ** Steve read an email from Terry Falco thanking the membership for their continued support.   

 

COMMITTEES

 

MEMBERSHIP/ORIENTATION (Bob Kazimir, Chair) – The Club welcomed two (2) new members – Vanessa Van Keuren & Evelyn Mercado.  Our Club's active membership now totals 123 with a current waiting list of five (5) applicants.  

        

FELLOWSHIP (Cal Wortman, chair) – A Club welcome was extended to Norman Robberstad, Inactive Honorary Member.

        The Committee members are Cal Wortman, Tom Drummond, Terry Falco, Ted Martin, Lou Romano, and Pat Trombetta.  If you know of a member that is under the weather, needs support, etc., please contact any one of the members so they can respond as needed.

       

BY-LAW  (Barbara Kolodziey, chair) –  no report 

    

MAINTENANCE (Manny Valles, chair) – Absent, no report

 

HOUSE SUPPLIES/MAINTENANCE (Lou Algaze, chair) – A catalog is available in the Billiards Room for supplies.  Members were reminded the keep the room neat & clean and lean their cue sticks against the walls.

  

WATER/SODA (John Szczesny/Joe Keber, co-chairs) – no report

 

TOURNAMENTS  (Wayne Collins, chair)

1.   Relay for Life – Check presentation to the American Cancer Society postponed to June Meeting. Tournament award plaques were distributed to Tournament winners.

2.  Ladies Day Tournament – 1st Josie Vallillo; 2nd Judy Kazimir; 3rd Betty Dykeman  Thanks to all the volunteers for all their time and patience

3.   Zirpolo Tournament – Starting May 13, 2019, at 9:30AM

4.   David's Touch – June 15, 2019, at 10AM

5.   Dawn Hopkins Day – June 05, 2019, at 10:00AM

      Reminder:  Billiard's Club Attire is required to be worn at all league and club matches, and when we gather as a group for special events.
